RESULTS: Race Round Up 20-21 May 2017

There are so many races at this time of year, it’s sometimes difficult to choose what to enter, let alone keep up with where everyone is competing!  This week our runners met with trails, hills, sunshine and rain …not forgetting the mentally tough laps at the end of the Stirling Marathon!  It was victory for Stephen Porteous at ATRX 10k and 2nd Female for Elsie Macdonald.  At the Carluke 10k, Robert Morrison won 1st MV50 prize and in Stirling at least 10 Harriers competed in the inaugural Stirling marathon.  It was also Goatfell Hill Race and Dick Wedlock 10k.

Despite a fall mid race, Stephen Porteous won the men’s race, knocking 7 seconds off the course record in a time of 40:12. Elsie Macdonald was also 2nd in the women’s race in 49:04.

Jim McAneny was  the sole Garscube Harrier at this long standing Glasgow 10k.  He finished in 19th place in a time of 41:22

Goatfell Hill Race (20th May 2017)

Three Harriers took on this 15.5km Hill Race on the Isle of Arran.  Dry weather meant for good conditions underfoot, but with sections of road, trail, scrambling, and a tricky, steep descent the race is not to be underestimated.
Dave Dickson was 81st in 1:42:49 (running for Westerlands), Nicky Parker was 143rd in 1:57:49  and Martha Lovatt was 178th (29th F) in 2:07:31 .

 

Scotish Stirling Marathon (21st May 2017)

It was the very first Great Run Scottish Stirling Marathon on Sunday and we had at least 10 Harriers racing.   Finlay Finlay was first home for the club in 2:48:16 – another PB at marathon distance in only 4 weeks!  Debbie Martin-Consani was first female home in 3:30:21.  Not all athletes identified as running for Garscube, and so if we’ve missed you in our list below, please get in touch as the results are difficult to search.  Likewise, if you got a PB and we’ve missed it – please let Chloe/Morag know.
